Cornelia Sollfrank, Hamburg: Forward to the past – the concept of the cultural 'light house' in Hamburg’s HafenCity

The action "Artists inform politicians" is an innovative form of protest of more than 100 Hamburg-based artists against the planned "International Maritime Museum", situated in the newly built HafenCity. The protest against this museum concept – which resembles 19th century militaria museums – goes against the procedures of political decision making, the scandalous conditions of this private public partnership, and the local cultural policies which in a populist way favor so called "light house" projects (urban iconics) while cutting all funding for contemporary cultural production.
